“4040” identifies a common element format, not a single membrane performance grade. Select BW, LP, ULP, XLE or SW-4040 from the feed, required duty and supplier test basis, then verify the complete model and mechanical interface before ordering a replacement.
What 4040 means—and what it does not
The verified dimensional reference lists a 4040 element at 1016 mm overall length and 99.7 mm outside diameter, with the remaining drawing dimensions shown in the current catalogue. These are element-format references, not pressure-housing dimensions or a promise that every 4040 element is directly interchangeable.
Confirm the exact variant, centre-tube and end details, seals, adaptors, vessel, connectors and installation clearance against an approved drawing.

All listed tests use 25 ± 1°C and pH 7–8. The supplier's element-table recovery is 15% for BW, LP, ULP and XLE-4040 and 8% for SW-4040; it is not the system recovery. Average yield is a laboratory reference, and salt rejection is not stated as a minimum guarantee. Different test conditions prevent a direct performance ranking.

Replacement compatibility checklist
- Original brand, complete model and suffix, plus quantity
- Element and pressure-vessel nameplates, photos and available drawings
- Element dimensions, centre tube, end details, seals, adaptors and connectors
- Array, vessel loading, feed spacer and any mechanical restrictions
- Feed analysis, temperature, operating pressure, recovery and permeate history
- Pretreatment, fouling or cleaning history and the reason for replacement
A similar model name, nominal area or 4040 format is not proof of direct replacement. YiFu reviews the evidence with a qualified manufacturing partner before proposing a supply option.
How to request one element or a batch
State the exact model requested, required quantity, application or original membrane information, destination country or region and delivery requirement. If the model is uncertain, send clear label and interface photos rather than shortening the model name.
For a new system, also provide feed source and analysis, temperature, required permeate flow and quality, intended operating hours and recovery basis. For seawater duties, state salinity and any boron-specific objective.
What determines the quotation
The quotation depends on the confirmed series and complete model, quantity, supply scope, required documentation or accessories, destination and delivery terms. Replacement work may require drawing and interface review before a commercial offer can be finalized.

Keep brackish-water and seawater duties separate
BW, LP, ULP and XLE data belongs to lower-salinity industrial selection under their respective test conditions. SW data belongs to seawater and selected high-salinity duties under a separate 32,000 mg/L NaCl and 800 psi test basis. Do not substitute one basis for the other.
